The Piceno extends on the southernest area of Marche. Ridges brach off
from the Sibillini Monutains, sloping down towards the Adriatic Sea and
shaping, near the shore-line, beautiful "terraces on the sea", where
from the Middle Ages, defence necessities and air healthiness fostered
the birth of urban centres, which were unique for the historical and
artistic patrimony, surrounded by the colour and the scents of citrus
plantations and strips of Mediterranean maquis.
Between mountains and seas there are narrow valleys, with rivers and
torrents going down southwards. The sightseeing of the Piceno following
ridges and valleys is the best thing for people wishing to enjoy, in
the most appropriate context, art and faith places, landscapes and
traditions, productive typicities and gastronomic specialities. It will
be also the opportunity for discovering unusal paths and ways, full of
interest and re-evocative suggestions. |
